Stanly Regional Medical Center’s Behavioral Health Services provides a safe and therapeutic environment for adults 18 and over in need of short-term, inpatient care.
Offering acute psychiatric services, the department affords patients quality mental healthcare close to their homes and support systems. The department features private rooms and counseling, recreation and visiting areas for the exclusive use of our patients.

Working with patients in both one-on-one and group settings, the team focuses on crisis resolution, self-esteem, communication, stress reduction and coping skills. Our primary goal is to help each patient attain a higher level of functioning on a personal, occupational and social level.

Plans for continuing care beyond the inpatient setting begin early in the patient’s treatment. All options are discussed with the patient or guardian to ensure that the appropriate aftercare plan is chosen. Family involvement, with patient consent, is strongly encouraged.
Our staff is sensitive to the importance of working with other professionals involved in a patient’s care including outpatient providers, the primary care physician, counselors and clergy during both treatment and after discharge. Involving other professionals helps enhance the team approach and promotes patient recovery and successful outcomes.
