Roy M. Hinson Cancer Center

With over 11,000 square feet, the Roy M. Hinson Cancer Center is a full-service oncology center offering radiation therapy and chemotherapy. This kind of facility is rarely seen in communities of comparable size.

Staffed by board-certified radiation and medical oncologists, the Cancer Center treats a variety of cancers and serves patients from Stanly and the surrounding counties.

Radiation treatments are administered by Southeast Radiation Oncology, the largest practice of its kind in the Southeast, while chemotherapy and other medical oncology services are provided by NorthEast Oncology Associates.

Located on the east end of the medical center campus at 945 N. Fifth St., the Roy M. Hinson Cancer Center was named for the hospital's former president and CEO.

Levine Cancer Institute

Carolinas HealthCare System's Levine Cancer Institute is changing the course of cancer care by removing the barriers that separate patients from access to world-class research and breakthrough treatments.  The Institute integrates and builds upon cancer programs within CHS's network of affiliated hospitals and providers to deliver innovative protocols when they are needed most - so where a patient lives will not determine how they fight cancer.

Carolinas HealthCare System Stanly, through its affiliation with Carolinas HealthCare System, is now a charter member of the Institute, bringing additional expertise and research offerings close to home for our patients, delivering world-class, compassionate, innovative cancer care. The development of the Institute means more communities can benefit from the expertise of cancer specialists at Stanly and across the system.

Patient Navigators

Carolinas HealthCare System Stanly has two patient navigators dedicated to helping cancer patients travel through the treatment process. These registered nurses ensure the patients have the information, knowledge, support and guidance they need to manage their diagnosis and treatment. In addition, they act as the patient's advocate and liaison with physicians.

To learn more about our patient navigators, call (980) 323-8268.

Lymphedema Treatment

While there is no cure for lymphedema, specialized therapy can help relieve symptoms and reduce the debilitating long-term effects. Treatment is completely noninvasive and consists of manual lymphatic drainage (MLD); a massage that stimulates the lymphatic system; compression bandages or garments; exercises; skin care; and education.
