About the Stanly Regional Medical Center Foundation
“I shall pass through this world but once. Any good therefore that I can do or any kindness that I can show to any human being, let me do it now. Let me not defer or neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again.”
– Mahatma Gandhi
The Foundation was established in 1991 as a not-for-profit, tax-exempt corporation to serve as provider and custodian of gifts and bequests for Stanly Memorial Hospital, now Stanly Regional Medical Center. And just as the medical professionals at Stanly Regional strive to ensure the finest healthcare available, the Foundation works to help provide the financial resources needed for turning goals into realities.
The Stanly Regional Medical Center Foundation is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors that represent a variety of professions from throughout Stanly County. These volunteers oversee the fund-raising programs, carefully manage the investment of the endowment funds and allocate funds to specific areas of need.
The Foundation has three staff members: Jane Boone, who serves as director of development; Beth Plowman, who serves as program manager; and Marsha Hatley, who serves as planning and development analyst. The staff shares with the board the joint custody of the organization’s mission and success, and is responsible for the efficient management of the day-to-day details of the Foundation office.
Contributions are not used to subsidize the medical center’s operating costs or pay staff salaries or expenses. Currently, the purpose of these funds is to build an endowment for the financial security of the medical center.
