Behavioral Health Services

Behavioral Health Services at Stanly Regional Medical Center provides a safe and therapeutic environment for adults, 18 and over, in need of short-term, in-patient care.

Offering acute psychiatric services, we afford patients quality mental health care close to their home and support system. This area features private rooms and counseling, recreation and visiting areas for the exclusive use of our patients. Helping patients to maintain their dignity and respect while obtaining treatment is of utmost importance. All services are confidential.

Upon admission to the unit, our clinical team begins working with the patient to create an individualized care plan. The clinical team includes:

• Psychiatrists
• Psychologists
• Psychiatric social workers
• Registered nurses
• Allied therapists

Working with patients one-on-one and in-group settings, the team focuses on self-esteem, communication, stress reduction and coping skills. Our primary goal is to help each patient attain a higher level of functioning on a personal, occupational and social level.

Transition and treatment
Continuation

Plans for continuing care beyond the inpatient setting begin early in the patient’s treatment. All options are discussed with the patient or guardian to ensure the appropriate care plan is chosen. Family involvement, with patient consent, is encouraged.

Our staff is sensitive to the importance of working with other professionals involved in a patient’s care, including the attending physician, counselors and clergy during both treatment and post-discharge. This involvement helps enhance our team approach and achieves the most appropriate continuum of care for the patient.
